2026 Municipal and School Board Election
Ontario municipal and school board elections are held every four years on the fourth Monday in October. These elections give residents a direct say in how their communities are run. In these elections, voters choose their local mayors, councillors, and school board trustees - offering an opportunity for residents of Haldimand County to influence local priorities and the future of public education.
The next general municipal election is Monday, October 26, 2026.

New ward boundaries
Following a 2024 Ward Boundary Review, Haldimand County Council approved a new Ward Boundary and Council Composition By-law that made some substantial changes to the existing ward system.
- The number of Wards has been increased from 6 to 7
- Council will now consist of 8 members - the Mayor and 7 Councillors (1 for each Ward)
- Ward 7 was created in the Caledonia area
- Significant changes to Wards 3 and 4 were made to accommodate the new Ward 7
- Some adjustments were also made to the boundaries of other Wards to align with the changing population distribution
