Exam Proctoring

The Haldimand County Public Library offers exam proctoring services as part of our role as an educational support center at the Caledonia and Dunnville Branches. Exam proctoring services are offered for college and university students, free of charge, during regular branch operating hours.

The Library cannot guarantee a private, distraction-free setting for the student. The Library cannot assume responsibility for any unforeseen interruptions of an exam. These include, but are not limited to: loss of power, inclement weather, emergencies, and internet or Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

In-person exams

Students must:

  • Confirm that the Library’s exam proctoring service meets the educational institutions’ exam proctoring requirements.
  • Ensure the exam is delivered to the Library a minimum of one day prior to the exam.
  • Arrive 10 minutes early to provide valid photo identification and to complete any pre-examination paperwork. The exam schedule will not be adjusted for late arrivals.
  • Do not bring personal belongings into the exam area as per the exam guidelines.
  • Students must pay for any costs associated with the delivery and return of the exam to the institution, including printing, faxing, or any postage costs. Scanning documents is free of charge.

The Library will:

  • Receive, secure, administer and return the exam to the educational institution;
  • Verify student photo identification.
  • Periodically check in with the student during the exam. Staff cannot provide any direct one-on-one supervision of the student for the entirety of the exam. Supervision will be intermittent.
  • Scan, mail or fax the completed exam in a timely manner. Library staff are not responsible for completed exams that do not reach the educational institution by the deadline date.

Online exams

Students must:

  • Use their own computer devices as outlined by their educational institution, and must install the proper software prior to the exam. Free Wi-Fi is available in the library building.
  • Library staff cannot offer any technical support for issues arising with online exams.
